One of my values in life is to not make judgment on someone by their present circumstances. I believe there is potential in everyone.
Even in my life I do not judge my success by my present situation but by the steps I am taking to becoming the best that I can be!
Potential is a funny thing. I read this morning about one of the best young Football (Soccer) coaches in the UK who had taken a new job with a local rival. In the article about this man, the words potential were mentioned so many times. However, one observer asked a question, ‘how many coaches have we said that about? Where are they today?’.
This got me thinking about people I have met in my life who have fulfilled their potential. In all honesty there are not all that many! I have many friends who I want to scream and shout at because they are wasting all that potential sitting inside them.
Have you ever wondered why people do not fulfill their potential? Me to! The conclusion I have come to is that most people do not have others who are willing to come alongside them and push them to be all they could be. We are often so consumed with our own lives that we forget to invest in others. At other times we feel it is not our place to push others forward and sometimes we believe we do not have anything to offer other people.
Imagine what our world be like if we were not afraid to help each other fulfill all that we possibly could. Imagine where you could be now if someone had decided to push you to fulfill your potential! While there are those who will resist you pushing them and maybe will never fulfill the potential they have, there are others who just need a little help!
Even the Apostle Peter, after all he had done for God, from preaching to thousands, healing the sick, standing up against persecution, feeding and clothing the poor and overseeing the start of a healthy growing church in Jerusalem had someone who was not scared to push him to be more than he was. In Galatians 2:11 we see the Apostle Paul telling Peter he was wrong in a matter. He did not tell him out of spite or even so much out of correction. Paul challenged Peter to be better than he already was because Paul could see more in Peter than even Peter could see in himself.
Who do you see who could be so much more than they now are? Go ahead, push them a little to become all that they could be!
