This Sunday spells an end of an era. Well, at least for me. It will be the last time my wife and I will go to work together. Since we have been married we have both been on staff at the same churches, but starting next week this will no longer be the case.
Raquel, has decided to step down from her role as Worship Pastor at Grace Assembly and I for one am very sad that she is no longer going to be the face of worship at Grace, but am very excited about what the future holds.
Raquel has been the one person who I have looked up to with regards to leadership and pastoral work more than anyone else. She is one of the best worship leaders of this generation (I don’t say that because she is my wife, but because everyone else says it), she is one of the best graphic designers I have ever seen in action (check out her pics in the link on the right side of this page) and she is an even better leader who pulls together a fantastic team of devoted people.
Raquel is someone who knows her strengthens and weaknesses. She is a person who is a leader not a follower, and at times some people have not appreciated her for that. This is a women who takes situations and problems by the scruff of the neck and tackles them straight on. This is a pastor who helps people because she cares for them, not because she wants to get something out of them. This is an entrepreneur who can make something out of nothing and that something is normally of the highest standard. This is a director who gives nothing but the best and is very focused on the tasks she has been given. This is a wife who is ready to make the biggest sacrifice for her husband because she wants to see others succeed. This is a Christian who loves God with an incredible passion and this is a servant who realizes that her calling will lead her to make decisions others will not and cannot understand.
My wife, my friend, my inspiration, my motivation and my soul mate (okay that was a little too much, if you feel sick, go ahead make your way to the bathroom now!). So this weekend will be bitter sweat, but I know for Raquel the best is yet to come and great days are ahead not only for us, but for her as an individual. I love you baby!
